What is Aerial Fitness
New to fitness in general? We got you covered! From beginners to more intermediate, our blog covers everything from how to build foundational strength and mobility. It will also dive deep on how to increase endurance to stay in the air for minutes rather than seconds.
Aerial fitness is so different from other types of strength-building fitness. This is it uses no equipment – only bodyweight in the air. Being in the air is beneficial because it reduces impact and compression on problematic areas like joints, muscles, and bones.
Why?
Aerial fitness is really amazing for your mental wellbeing. Not only is it an alternative fun and challenging way of fitness, but research shows that it also increases activity in the pituitary gland. This gland is responsible for regulating vital bodily functions. a great core and upper body workout!
Moving in the air while holding on for your life takes a lot of body awareness to understand how your body moves in 3-dimensional space. This also increases joint rotation and mobility – which is super great for your physical health!
When you invert (a fancy way of saying go upside down), blood flow is stimulated throughout the body which enables oxygen flow and creates an amazing sensation! My favorite aerial apparatus is aerial silks, but I also work on aerial pole and hammock as well. This is where I personally feel the most aware and in tune with my body – all I do is listen to how my body feels and live in the present moment.
